Bali

So Bali… the magical island where everybody wants to go. We went to Bali in April 2017. I waited this so much because it was my first trip outside Europe and of course I had read so much good about Bali. Let’s start from the beginning. We stayed in Bali for two weeks and we shared that time between two hotels. I really loved our first hotel which was called The Samata. It was quiet hotel in Sanur next to a rice field and luckily there weren’t many guests at the time we stayed there. The hotel has everything: three pools, really nice resting areas, gym, billiard table and a good restaurant. We chose a room  where you can have a one hour free massage each day and that was amazing. The massages in Bali are so good and of course cheep (1 h starting from 4€ on the beach). So if you are looking for a nice hotel in Bali I really recommend The Samata.

I won’t talk about the second hotel because believe me you don’t need to know about that. But I will talk about most of the things we did in Bali. So of course we went to the Monkey Forest which was quite nice. But if you go there be careful because the monkeys are very brave and will steel everything they can.

With the same tour we also saw the traditional Barong Dance. It was nice to see the local culture. One thing I really liked was the White Water Rafting. It was crazy fun and at some point even little bit scary. The beaches in Bali are very different and sadly not so good as I expected. Some of them are dirty, some have too big waves to swim or some other things I didn’t like. We didn’t travel around all Bali so I won’t say that you can’t find a nice beach in Bali.

I better talk about the thing I liked most in Bali and it is a trip to Mount Batur. Mount Batur is an active volcano which is 1717 m above sea level. We took the sunrise trekking tour and went up with the guide. I think the hike took around 2 hours and it was hard but worth it. When we got up it was still dark and you started to feel the cold. So if you go there then take same changing clothes and something warm. When the sun is starting to rise you will have a tea, an egg and some cooked banana sandwiches.

After breakfast we did a walk around the crater. We met lots of monkeys and it was so much cooler than in the monkey forest.

If you like hiking and nice views then it is the tour for you.

This post is getting so long already, but I guess I will talk about two more experiences. One of them was the visit to the Elephant Safari Park. It was nice to be so close with the big ones. You can ride with them, feed them and watch the show with young ones.

Last thing I will write about is the cockfighting in Bali. We found a really nice taxi driver who was very friendly. He showed us his home and drove us to interesting places. On that day there was the biggest cockfight in the month in the special cockfighting arena. It was quite a scary experience because only men go there and of course it wasn’t nice to watch. Tourists don’t go there and some men even took pictures of us as we were the only white people there. Even though it was not so nice it was a very interesting experience.

So did I like it… I can say it was a great trip. Would I go there again? I’m not sure maybe some day but not in the near future when there are so many other places to explore.

Loe eesti keeles:

Bali… imeline saar, kuhu kõik minna tahavad. Me käisime Balil aprillis 2017. Mulle väga meeldis meie esimene hotell, mille nimi oli The Samata. Hotellides on hinnad muidugi kõrgemad. Seega kui otsid mõnusat hotelli on The Samata kindlasti hea valik.

Teisest hotellist ma rääkima ei hakka, sest uskuge mind, teil pole seda infot vaja. Sellest hoolimata räägin ma aga asjadest, mida me Balil tegime.

Nimelt on tegemist päiksetõusu matkaga vulkaan Baturi otsa.

Üheks neist on elevandipargi külastus.

Viimane asi, millest plaanin kirjutada, on kukevõitlus.
